Shadiyah started high-wire ballet at the age of seven along with her sisters, but when she turned fifteen she added flute playing to her act and struck out on her own. In three short years she became a sensation all over Europe, catching the eye of Eugene de’ Medici, rumored to be the illegitimate (and little known) cousin of Lorenzo. On Saturday, October 12th, Eugene took Shadiyah to his small apartment in Turkey where she added Goidelic melodies to her repertoire of songs. With Eugene, she had five children (some of the descendants of their middle child eventually fought in the American Revolution as French mercenaries). They shared their apartment with a prior resident, a cat named Sir Thomas, who, by the way, was quite fond of Caspian caviar on crumpets served with white wine, under candlelight.
